You and Europe - European Scholarship Programme (Toepfer Stiftung)
The Toepfer Stiftung’s right of nomination for the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes)
The Alfred Toepfer Stiftung F.V.S. (or Toepfer Stiftung for short) nominates future Master's students from all European countries, wishing to complete a master’s degree in Germany and at the same time wishing to be part of the Toepfer Stiftung’s European Scholarship Programme. “Europe” in this case is to be understood in its geographical entirety and thus independent of membership in the European Union.
After being nominated, all candidates first enter the German Academic Scholarship Foundation's (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, or Studienstiftung for short) selection procedure. Out of all successful candidates, the Toepfer Stiftung will then select from each country one person to be part of its European Scholarship Programme. Irrespective of this, all successful candidates from EU-membership and EU candidate countries will be admitted to the regular Studienstiftung Scholarship Programme.
The Studienstiftung welcomes and looks forward to all successful candidates from EU-membership and candidate countries, enriching our educational events with their perspectives and diverse outlooks. We regret that our public funding regulations do not allow us to admit candidates from other countries – and we wish everybody the best of luck and success for being admitted to the Toepfer Stiftung’s European Scholarship Programme.
About the Studienstiftung
The Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes – German Academic Scholarship Foundation – was founded in Dresden in 1925. It awards scholarships to outstanding students, irrespective of their political, ideological or religious convictions and affiliations. It is the oldest and largest German organisation of its sort and currently provides about 14,000 students and doctoral candidates with both financial and non-material support.
Why should you apply for a Studienstiftung scholarship?
- Fund your studies: Every successful applicant receives a fixed amount of € 300.00 per month irrespective of their personal financial situation. Depending on their income, scholars can receive up to an additional € 812.00 per month. Scholars who study abroad for a while or who want to do an internship can apply for additional support. You do not need to pay the scholarship back (unlike BAföG).
- Large variety of educational opportunities: The Studienstiftung organises language courses, scientific events and workshops for its scholars held around Germany and other European countries. This is how we provide dedicated and interested scholars with the opportunity to exchange their ideas and to network, irrespective of their political, religious or social backgrounds. Participation is voluntary. You can find out about the wide range of offers in the education programme here: www.studienstiftung.de/kalender/veranstaltungen.
About the Toepfer-Stiftung and the European Scholarship Programme
The Toepfer Stiftung’s European Scholarship Programme is aimed at European students wishing to complete a master’s degree in Germany. “Europe” in this case is to be understood in its geographical entirety and thus independent of membership in the European Union. The objective of the programme is to promote European understanding while preserving cultural diversity. Specifically, the programme seeks to promote international dialogue on European issues and create a network of outstanding, socially engaged students who are committed to European cohesion. Through dialogue, exchanges and lasting connections between scholarship holders, the programme also endeavours to strengthen tolerance, respect and understanding as well as acceptance of opposing beliefs and cultural diversity. In order to be admitted to the programme, all candidates need to successfully pass the selection procedure of the Studienstiftung.
