PhD Fellowships
Financial
PhD students receive a monthly fellowship of € 1,050. Usually they are also granted a monthly lump sum for research costs of € 100. Where relevant, family and childcare allowances may also be granted.
Tenure
A standard scholarship is awarded for two years. It may be extended twice for a maximum period of six months respectively and may not exceed three years at most. Previous sponsorship of the same doctoral thesis from other sources counts towards the maximum tenure of sponsorship.
Programme
An essential element of sponsorship are the meetings of PhD students. Further more, PhD students may participate in summer academies and apply for language courses. At their home universities they are members of a personal tutorial group. The PhD students are invited to make use of the Intranet for academic exchange.
