The enlargement of the European Union and economic developments have opened the door for studies in Central and Eastern Europe. This scholarship programme, initiated in 2004, addresses adventurous German students who wish to study or pursue an academic project in an Eastern European country.
Application is open to students from all subjects whose academic performance is above average. The programme addresses students up to master level. Sponsorship is usually granted for a one-year stay abroad: initially, the focus is placed on intensive language training, subsequently on individual study and research projects. The year abroad can be rounded off with a work placement lasting several weeks. The project must be prepared by the applicants themselves.
Apart from financial support for language learning and the stay abroad from the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, the Studienstiftung can offer a network of contacts and people to consult. After returning to Germany, the participants continue to be sponsored by the Studienstiftung. [ Details in German ]
