The Kennedy School is one of the Harvard Professional Schools and sees its mission in training young professionals for public and international organisations. The Harvard Kennedy School’s various two-year Master’s programmes are open to McCloy applicants. The Kennedy School offers a wide range of programmes, accordingly each programme has its own application specifications.
The various Master’s programmes offer courses in the core subjects “analysis, management and advocacy” and also deal with issues relating to economics, statistics, politics and ethics. The programmes address outstanding young professionals from all disciplines who have already gained substantial (international) working experience, are good communicators and are interested in practice-oriented issues. Approximately six scholarships are granted annually, and the decisions are taken by a German selection committee appointed by the Studienstiftung. However, only those who are also accepted by the Harvard Kennedy School in the second round – at the commission’s recommendation – actually become McCloy scholars.
The programme is funded by Harvard University, the McCloy Scholarship Foundation in the Donors’ Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany, the Federal Ministry of Economics as trustee of ERP special assets, the Haniel Foundation and the McCloy Alumni Fund.
