Personal tutors

More than 700 professors from differing disciplines work for the Studienstiftung as voluntary tutors at their universities or universities of applied science. This number now includes no less than 20% women. Every tutor supervises an interdisciplinary group of up to 15 scholars. At larger university locations one tutor takes charge.

In this context, the description “personal” tutor should be taken literally. These tutors are available for both confidential and open discussions with their scholars beyond the regular institutional requirements, across disciplinary borders and independent of proof of achievement related to examinations. This applies both to matters of individual study and vocational planning and to concrete issues of financial sponsorship and applying for additional scholarships.

The tutors also encourage interchange within the group of scholars by initiating joint activities.
