Studienkolleg zu Berlin (Berlin Studies Centre)

What actually is Europe? Where did Europe come from and where is it going? Is there a unification process in Europe beyond top level political treaties? The Studienkolleg zu Berlin provdies a framework for the examination and discussion of these and other issues between young Europeans on whose decisions the future shape of Europe is likely to depend. To this end, the Studienkolleg zu Berlin invites 30 motivated students from all over Europe to spend one year in Berlin. Apart from studying at Berlin or Brandenburg universities, the participants attend lectures and seminars on topics related to European history, culture and politics. The core module of the college year is a project on current issues relating to European unification on which small teams of participants cooperate during the entire duration.

This programme is only open to students from all European countries except Germany. German students must already be Studienstiftung scholars at the time of application.

The Studienkolleg zu Berlin is an initiative of the German National Academic Foundation and the non-profit Hertie Foundation in cooperation with the Berlin Institute for Advanced Study and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. [ Details in German ]
