About 10,500 students and about 950 doctoral candidates from different disciplines are currently being sponsored by the Studienstiftung.
There is no typical Studienstiftung scholar but there are certain things they have in common, such as
- enthusiasm for intellectual challenges
- a genuine interest in intensive exchange with other people and cultures
- perseverance in dealing in-depth with topics from other disciplines
- curiosity to experience new worlds, both intellectually and practically
- the willingness to take on social responsibility
