PhD scholarship programme "Detlev Rohwedder Scholarship Programme" financed by the Federal Ministry of Finance

Through the Detlev Rohwedder Scholarship Programme, the Federal Ministry of Finance makes a valuable contribution to the PhD funding scheme of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German National Academic Foundation). Eligible are PhD theses in Economics with a particular focus on Finance, especially in the field of "Property and State". One scholarship is awarded per year.  

The award of the Detlev Rohwedder scholarship complies with the PhD scholarships of the Studienstiftung of currently € 1,050.-/month plus € 100.- research grant/month. Scholars are invited to take part in the academic programme of the Studienstiftung, including summer academies and language courses. 

The application process follows the regulations of the application for a regular PhD scholarship of the Studienstiftung. Further information under "Details".

The PhD programme pays homage to Dr. Detlev K. Rohwedder on occasion of the 20. anniversary of his death. He was appointed President of the Executive Board of the Treuhandanstalt by the last Government of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). His task was to supervise the safeguarding, transformation and privatisation of the assets of the state-owned companies of the GDR. Detlev Rohwedder was assassinated on April 1, 1991 in his home in Düsseldorf. The current head office of the Federal Ministry of Finance and former office of the Treuhandanstalt is named after him.
