China Scholarship Programme

Highly-qualified students from all disciplines, except Chinese Studies, are given the opportunity to gain knowledge of the language, the country and their subject at an early stage and get their first work experience in China during an integrated work placement.

Applicants should already have a serious interest in China. Some knowledge of Chinese is an advantage, but not a prerequisite, as a preparatory course in Chinese language and Culture is held at Trier University. Chinese and German lecturers teach modern Chinese as well as regional studies, calligraphy, and Taiji. After the year in China, the scholars retain their status as scholars of the Studienstiftung.

Since 1986, the programme has been financed by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation. The Ministry of Education in the People’s Republic of China supports the programme by covering the academic fees. [ Details in German ]
